The 10th IFToMM International Conference on Rotordynamics is the world biggest event of exchanging information on research and technological developments in area or Rotordynamics for Turbomachinery. The idea to have a regular quadrennial meeting started with the conference in Rome in 1982. It followed the meeting in Tokyo (1986), Lyon (1990), Chicago (1994), Darmstadt (1998), Sydney (2002), Vienna (2006), Seoul (2010), Milano (2014). IFToMM had developed to a forum for discussions between scientists from Universities, research institutions and mechanical engineers from industry, which is a very effective way of direct knowledge transfer between Universities and practical engineering. Conference gave the community the chance to be represented by a Technical Committee which is responsible for selecting the locations of the conferences and define priorities of the area. In these 40 years this committee increased considerably the number of members and the amount of countries represented. Rio de Janeiro was chosen as the venue for the meeting considering the facilities in lodging after all the improvements that were done for the Olympic Games. The organization effort came from several Universities of Brazil and companies headed by the UNICAMP University.
Visit the conference gave the unique possibility to meet world leading experts in the world of Rotordynamics and Vibration diagnostic, listen their presentation and exchange the experience on related problems.

In addition, two papers were successfully presented on the conference. One paper was focused on problems of modal testing and was presented in TS03- Modal testing I section; the second paper was focused on problems of dynamics and was presented in TS07-Dynamics I section of the conference. Both papers were indexed by Springer International Publishing AG and will be published in Mechanisms and Machine Science Journal: in Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rotor Dynamics – IFToMM, prepared for release by Springer International Publishing in 2019.
